Iron Thrones is a band that we’ve featured on several previous episodes of Open Metalcast, and I’m thrilled to present to you an interview that we did with Steve Henningsgard of Iron Thrones. In this interview, we talk about the history of Iron Thrones, the latest EP “The Wretched Sun”, and why the band chose to use the Creative Commons license. It’s an interview you won’t want to miss!

Songs featured in this episode:

  • Cover of Smoke (from Visions of Light)
  • Against the Grain (from The Wretched Sun)
  • Illumination (from Visions of Light)

Remember to check out their website at http://ironthrones.com, and follow them on Twitter (@ironthrones).

Program Notes

Just finished uploading the latest Open Metalcast Episode (Episode #12, can you believe it?) Lots of great metal in this episode. I’m really looking forward to you hearing it. Should drop early morning on Tuesday.

I mentioned on the Open Metalcast identi.ca group (What? You didn’t know about that? Well, head on over, and join fer cryin’ out loud) that I was thinking of putting up .ogg files as well as .mp3 files. I’d love to hear what format you’d like to hear Open Metalcast in. Leave me a comment on this post for your preference.

I’m looking forward to bringing you an interview with Iron Thrones in the coming days. Their album “The Wretched Sun” is an awesome album, and I’m thrilled to get the chance to talk with them.

And, as always, I want to hear what Creative Commons metal you’re listening to. I’m always looking for new artists and albums to feature on the show. Send me a note at craig@openmetalcast.com. Also, if your band would like an interview on the show, send me a note, and we’ll see if we can work something out.

Stay metal, and stay “tuned” for more episodes of Open Metalcast!

Open Metalcast Episode #11: This One Goes to 2011

First episode of 2011, and I get to make a cheesy reference to Spinal Tap. What more could you ask for? Oh, yeah, the music, of course:

Please support the bands in this show! Buy a T-Shirt, head to the shows, or help spread the word by shaving your cat with their name and posting photos on Flickr (only with your cat’s consent, please). Whatever you can do to help these bands keep making music, please do it!
