Recently we got the chance to speak with Lindsay from the band Carthasy. Carthasy hails from Perth, Australia, and just released their new EP, Apertures on Bandcamp. A perfect description of the band is on their site:
Some bands try very hard to please you. Carthasy are not one of those bands. Carthasy’s experimental hard rock doesn’tsubscribe to any formula: schizophrenic two-minute assaults hold an uncomfortable truce with atmospheric seven-minute slow-burners. You might have to make an effort, but you know the rewards will be worth it.

Awesome! I did check out Oceansize. What album would you recommend to really get a start for them?
Their last, Self Preserved While the Bodies Float Up, is probably their most accomplished. It’s got this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSjF028Mc_8 . Frames is a lot more experimental, and it contains this filthy bastard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQnDH9SQ6Sc . Everyone Into Position is my favourite, it’s got http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYAF_MgV0JA which is just about the best prog song out in my opinion. The rest of the album is a bit more straightforward, it’s even got singles! For my money, though, their second EP, Music For Nurses, is their best work.
Thanks! Looks like I have some listening to do.
