Open Metalcast: Brief Hiatus

Hey everyone,

Just a quick note that Open Metalcast is taking a brief hiatus for this week. We’ll return, ready to bang heads, crush skulls, and give you the finest in Creative Commons Metal music on 7/23.

Hope to see you then!

Transition to Archive.org complete

I just uploaded the last few files to Archive.org this morning. If everything went according to plan, we should have every single file from Open Metalcast up on Archive.org (save for some special announcements). If you notice a link on this site still pointing to this site, please let me know. I’ll probably do one last sweep to make sure, and once that’s done, I can put that project to bed.

All future episodes will have their audio files distributed via archive.org. Please let me know if you run into any issues.

Thanks for listening!

The best problems to have (link updates, and a heart-felt thank you)

Just a quick update to let everyone know that I’m moving the archives of Open Metalcast to the best place I can think of for archiving. Heck, it even has archive in the name. Yes, I’m moving the links to archive.org, which should hopefully lighten the bandwidth load on the server (which has been performing admirably in the past few days. Yay, Linode!) and move it somewhere where it can be kept in perpetuity. The new listeners from Metal Injection have literally used up 1/3 of my bandwidth allocation for this month, which is awesome on the one hand, but is pretty unsustainable in the long-term. So, hopefully this will keep the bandwidth bills low, and keep you in the awesome Creative Commons metal you’ve come to expect from this show.

Note: You don’t have to update your links or RSS feeds. This should all work transparently to you.

If you have any problems downloading any of the shows, please let me know (craig@openmetalcast, or leave a comment below). It’s a slow process to move everything, but in the long run it’ll hopefully nicer for all of us.

Thank you for all of the downloads! You’re all making some great problems to have. 🙂

Blooper

If you managed to download episode #42 earlier today, congratulations: you have a collector’s item. Apparently I forgot to edit out one of the mistakes that I made in the second track announcement. Cherish it. 🙂

The episode is updated with the correction.

Update: OGG Files should be working now

Apologies to those of you who were unable to download the OGG files. Turns out Nginx doesn’t support OGG out of the box (or at least the version I installed didn’t). Please let me know if you are still having problems getting to the OGG-versions of the episodes.
